While commonly used in the neck position, the EMG 85X performs exceptionally well as a bridge humbucker, thanks to its smoothness and soulful sound. This pickup complements various other pickups in our range and with our solderless system, adjusting your tone becomes hassle-free.
With the X series preamp, the pickup gains a broader dynamic range and increased headroom while maintaining a traditional string-to-string balance. Additionally, X series pickups feature an Active Tone Control (VLPF) that reduces high frequencies, resembling a passive tone control.
